Description Photo has been taken at 20 Duncan Ave. North, Kirkland Lake, Ont. on July 3rd, 1982 at the event of the dedication of the Wright-Hargreaves Mine Gates to the Town of Kirkland Lake. This photo shows the Mayor, Joe Mavrinac, holding a frame containing photographs of Ed Hargreaves & William Wright which was presented to the Town by Jack Hargreaves. Five other people are standing with Joe Mavrinac in front of the Mine Gates. (L. to R.) 1) Bill Taylor, councillor 2) Joe Mavrinac, Mayor 3) Millie Baird, Chairman of K.L. Museum Board 4) Joan Craig 5) Jennifer Hargreaves, Ed Hargreaves' great granddaughter 6) Jack Hargreaves, Ed Hargreaves grandson. Joan Craig is Ed Hargreaves' daughter and niece of Wm. Wright. These mine gates were located at the rear of Joan Craig's home, Barrie, Ont. In 1979 her home was being sold and the fate of the gates were unknown. Board members of the Kirkland Lake Museum expressed their interest to Jack Hargreaves regarding the gates being returned to Kirkland. In July 1980 the gates arrived in Kirkland with a plaque (Note: on gates in photo) worded "Presented to the Town of Kirkland Lake by the families of William Wright and Edward Hargreaves"- (Date June 1980) Please see acc. nos. 983.263.1 - 983.263.25 for photos taken at this particular event.
