Description THE REMAINS OF A BUCK SAW. PIECE 971.39.9A, CONSISTS OF ONE LONG HORIZONTAL TOOTHED BLADE ATTACHED TO A WOODEN BAR BY FITTING PERPENDICULAR INTO A NARROW SLIT NEAR BASE OF BAR. BELOW THIS SLIT, THE WOODEN BAR TAPERS INTO A PLAIN CYLINDER SHAPE HANDLE. THE TOP OF THE BAR IS NARROW WITH A BLUNT END. THE BAR WIDENS AT CENTER WHERE A RIDGE HAS BEEN CUT INTO IT. (THIS IS WHERE THE CROSS BAR WOULD HAVE JOINED). PIECE 971.39.9B IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE ABOVE PIECE EXCEPT THERE IS NO BLADE ATTACHED TO IT AND NO HANDLE BELOW BASE OF BAR. PIECE 971.39.9C IS A WOODEN STICK WITH BARK REMOVED. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN WRAPPED INTO THE TENSION ROPE TO ADJUST THE TENSION. DIMENSIONS: A) 105cm X 54cm X 5cm B) 42cm X 6cm X 5cm C) 26cm X 3.5cm X 2cm CONDITION: SAW IS BROKEN; THREE PIECES REMAIN; BLADE IS RUSTY. CROSS-BAR AND TENSION ROPE IS MISSING (JUNE 29, 1976)
