Fossil - shark tooth - fossils found in the Miocene rocks of Maryland show that life during that period was very similar to sea life found in that area today. Sharks looked like those found now in the North Atlantic. Some fossil shark teeth are up to 6 inches long and based on what we know today about sharks, they must have been 80 feet long. 30,000,000 years old to present. (miocene)
